Archivist, Head of the section of records management and archive at Generalitat de Catalunya Ministry of Home Affairs
From April 26 to April 28, 2019
Vicenç Conde Balderas (born 1971 in Barcelona) has graduated with the Official Master’s Degree in Contemporary History by Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. In addition, he has successfully completed the Official Master’s Degree in Archival and Records Management and the Graduate Diploma in Electronic Records Management, both by Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. As an historian, he has studied the social movements which existed in Catalonia and acted against the Franco’s dictatorship. As an archivist, he has worked for the municipal administration, as well as for the Generalitat de Catalunya, where he still is employed since 2005. In all the Ministries he has worked, he collaborated in the development and implementation of the records management system. Today, his main activity is being the coordinator of a team of professionals to implement the electronic administration.
I will work in the Associació d’Arxivers de Catalunya’s project: “Archives and information governance” which is focused on records management and transparency policies, the new roles of public archives, massive data management, or the implication of using blockchain as a trust system for records… Furthermore, we will debate what is expected from archives today, as a new pool of knowledge and also as a reference to administrations and citizens, who want to have more control over the information they produce.
