Accomplished higher education in International Journalism at Saint Petersburg State University in Russia in 1992; Started carrier as a journalist more than 21 years ago, worked in various media houses from print, TV to online newspapers. Got involved with activism, started writing against all wrong-doings of Government and others, soon was being blacklisted by Governemnt agencies and was forced to leave jobs. In 2013, started own portal for the wellbeing of women, tried to create an independent platform for women called Women Chapter. Within a short period, it has become very popular and achieved one International and one National Award for life-changing work. Unfortunately, the fanatics started threatening and wanted to kill for so many times.
As a Journalist and Editor of Women Chapter, my work fully concentrated on women rights, human rights, LGBT rights and religious minority rights. This portal is a platform for movement. In past, we took so many initiatives from this platform. So while I am here in Faber Residency programme, it is a great opportunity to share our thoughts and go ahead with concrete planning. My project purpose is to relate women rights with other rights.
We have lots of other problems to achieve the women’s equal rights. South Asian women are fighting with every patriarchal step from home to power. When women are being killed and raped every day, it is difficult to concentrate on quality education of women. At the same time, it is encouraging that our women are crossing the barriers and started breaking the silence. We need to focus on these.
