Lecturer and Legal Advisor
From March 28 to March 31, 2019
Pau Bossacoma is currently lecturer in constitutional law and administrative law at Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) and legal advisor of the Catalan Government. He is a member of the Evolution of Institutions Observatory (OBSEI) and of the Edinburgh Centre for Constitutional Law. He holds a degree in law and another in political science. He has a master’s degree in legal science and a PhD in law. He has written several academic books, chapters and papers on constitutionalism, democracy, citizenship, self-determination, secession, sovereignty and territorial autonomy.
I aim to reflect on difficulties and problems of unilateral secession in contexts of liberal democracy such as polarization, non-recognition, coercion, anarchy, legal uncertainty and establishing new authorities.
