Àlex Hinojo, also known as Kippelboy. He is a cultural programme manager and free knowledge activist. He has a degree in business administration and postgraduate degrees in cultural projects management and museum management. I’m specialized in online cultural outreach, using open platforms, especially Wikipedia. I’ve worked with the biggest museums, libraries, archives and universities of the Catalan speaking Areas. Also at an international level, trying to spread the potential benefits of collaborative working and open knowledge. I currently work as a programme manager at Amical Wikimedia.
Wikipedia is the main source to access to global knowledge, written and improved daily by thousands of volunteers in almost 300 languages. It has become one of the paradigms of what could be a free Internet, open and distributed. The reliability of the content of Wikipedia is based on the verifiability of the sources used by Wikipedians (newspapers, magazines, mainstream press). In Faber I want to make a comparative analysis of what sources Wikipedians use in main wikis in relation to main media in Catalan. I am going to see the presence of Catalan media as a source in the Wikipedias in other languages.
